About Educational Arts Team's Camp Liberty
Often referred to as the “hidden gem” of Jersey City, Camp Liberty sits on five acres of land in Liberty State Park. This 50 year old institution, serving children and families from Hudson County is an oasis of contrasts -a suburban camp in an extraordinary urban setting. Over 400 campers spend their summers at Camp Liberty over six sessions. Affordably priced to ensure no child is left out, Camp Liberty has served two generations of many families and it is a point of pride that many campers eventually become counselors. Camp Liberty provides what all children need – a safe, creative environment where they can learn, play and nurture their independence. Educational Arts Team’s core philosophy of connecting creativity with critical thinking in order to stimulate personal growth and increasing self esteem is at the heart of all of the Camp’s activities.
Camp Liberty serves children ages 6-12 and includes an in ground swimming pool, ball fields, playground, handball courts, gazebo and theatrical stage. Campers can choose from a wide range of activities to participate in.
Teen Summer Camp Liberty (Ages 13 - 15)
Have you heard about our Camp Liberty Summer Teen Program? We offer teens ages 13 to 15 positive and exciting opportunities to build bonds through on site activities in recreation, creative and performing arts, field trips, community service and limited screen time.
Our Teen program is so much more than a place to hang out. It’s a place where teens have the opportunity to meet peers, form friendships and hone skills while they play sports, act in plays, design and create scenery and costumes and just have fun. Designed for this age group, the Teen Camp offers a different experience from that of the younger campers.
Your teens will have:
• A safe place to socialize and enjoy the summer
• Participate in workshops in leadership and life skills (like team building and collaboration)
• Fun, creative games, swimming, theater, sports and art activities
• Limited screen time
• 1 field trip per session
The program takes place during Sessions 1,2, 3 & 4
Camper Eligibility
To be eligible to attend Camp Liberty, a camper must turn six by the first day of the desired session. All campers must be able to independently use the bathroom and change into and out of swim attire without assistance from a counselor. Campers should be able to participate in a group setting, as well as choose an activity, and stick with that activity for about 45-60 minutes. Campers should be able to participate safely and appropriately within a 1:15 ratio of staff to campers. We expect all campers, staff, and families to contribute to a safe camp environment for all.
Campers are expected to function in a group setting in a positive and cooperative manner that displays kindness, acceptance and respect for self and others. If your camper needs an accommodation to have a successful camp experience, please contact us to further discuss by emailing us at info@educationalartsteam.org or by calling 201-432-1912.

Scholarships
As always, Camp Liberty strives to promote inclusion and equity in our community. As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to making our program accessible to all, regardless of income. Educational Arts Team will be offering full and partial scholarships based on household income. We are accepting 2023 tax returns as proof of income. Please contact us if you have any difficulty providing a tax return.
Scholarships will open on February 1 and closes February 15. They are offered on a first come first serve basis and are contingent upon funding. Separate spots are held for scholarship campers. Completing this application does not guarantee your child a spot at Camp Liberty. Many families choose to register for Camp when registration opens to guarantee their spot, and if they are awarded a scholarship, it is applied to the remaining balance. If you are not awarded a scholarship, customizable payment plans are available.
